Obama State of Culpability

By Brian Goecke • Jan 30th, 2010 • Category: Featured, Obama

The president just gave his first State of the Union Address and there’s one thing that wasn’t there, culpability. He wasn’t accepting responsibility for his campaign promises that went unfulfilled, he actually bypassed that. He was trying to point out how strong we were as a nation, I hope everyone forgot the underwear bomber during the Christmas season.

National Security apparently took a backseat to the healthcare bill that Pelosi, Reid, and the rest of the filibuster aligned congress was poised to pass regardless of how their constituents felt. Well folks, apparently America has spoken, Massachusetts elected a Republican. Yes, it’s true, a seat that had been held by a Kennedy for 47 years is now held by a Republican. Maybe a nice suit and a well versed teleprompter speech convinced the voters to elect a first term Senator over a decorated veteran, but the approval ratings look like they are headed downhill. With a current 48.5% approval rating after just over a year in office, things do not look good for our current Commander and Chief.

He did win the election on the promise of change, he did have lots of promises, but who knows. That change he promised may of had nothing to do with campaign promises and everything to do with getting into office. I wonder if “what am I supposed to do now” is going through that Ivy league educated noggin of his.
